Description
Daruma - a symbol of the work on yourself
Hand-painted figurine made of papier-mâché.
Daruma is a traditional Japanese doll made in the image of a monk Bodhidharma, founder of Zen Buddhism. Its fierce expression shows determination and the will to overcome difficulties and the red color symbolizes courage and success. It is believed that painted this color Daruma will provide its holder a long life, protect from diseases and bring good luck, especially at home and in business.
Having Daruma is also a fantastic way to add yourself an extra motivation.
The Japanese believe that Daruma can help in their endeavors. Why? The new figurine is blind, after choosing a goal you should paint her one eye to encourage her to help and then set it in a prominent position to constantly remind you what we're working on. When everything goes our way you paint the other eye as a symbol of success and a reward for Daruma's help.
